對於在 Android 裝置上下載及運行遊戲，我們首先會想到從 Google Play 下載及安裝。但其實不同的遊戲開發商例如 Epic Games 及微軟，早已希望在 Google Play 提供專屬程式，可讓玩家們無需經過 Google Play，都可以下載及運行遊戲，但 Google 對此一直有所阻撓。不但 Epic Games 未能如願，微軟也如是，而其中一個理由，就是 Google 認為有關程式會對 Google Play 的安全構成威脅……
Android 版 Xbox 商店程式仍未可正式推出

早在十月，微軟便表示計劃在 Android 平台上推出 Xbox 商店程式，將允許玩家直接從該程式購買和遊玩 Xbox 遊戲，全程無需經過 Google Play。不過，日前 Xbox 總裁 Sarah Bond 於社交平台 Bluesky 發文，指出受到一項法院臨時禁制令的影響，程式尚未能如期上線。

她口中的禁令，是指早前由加州法官 James Donato 頒布，裁定 Google 必須開放其生態系統，允許競爭對手的商店進入。因此微軟看準機會，準備要推出 Android 版 Xbox 商店程式。但因法律程序尚未完全結束，所以仍未可以實現。Bond 強調，微軟一直希望為玩家提供更多的選擇，包括能夠直接從 Xbox 應用程式購買和遊玩遊戲。
Google 以 Google Play 安全為由拒絕放行
微軟準備要讓 Xbox 商店程式在 Google Play 上架，大家自然想到會對 Google Play 構成直接競爭。即使面對法院裁決，Google 當然仍不輕易就範。
Google 發言人 Dan Jackson 向媒體 The Verge 指出，其實微軟一直有機會讓 Android 用戶直接遊玩和購買 Xbox 遊戲，只是他們選擇不在 Android 上直接推出遊戲，反而要經商店程式來間接提供遊玩和購買渠道，強調這樣的行為對 Google Play 的安全度構成威脅，所以他們才不允放行讓 Xbox 商店程式在 Google Play 上架。
Google 阻礙其他商店程式上架早已惹來不滿
究竟 Xbox 商店程式何時才能上架，目前仍是未知之數。但對於 Google 的做法，其實微軟於遊戲市場的對手 Epic Games 早已有所不滿。
目前，Epic Games 的確有推出自家商店程式，可讓 Android 用家搜尋、購買、下載和遊玩遊戲。不過，我們不能經 Google Play 找到 Epic Games Store，而是要經 Epic Games 官網，才可以找到下載及安裝程式的連結。

對於不在 Google Play 上架商店程式，Epic Games 創辦人 Tim Sweeney 不但批評 Google 對待微軟的做法，稱其為「欺騙」，更指出 Google 現時要求遊戲商店程式要交出百分之 30 的利潤分成，成為 Google Play 上架程式的條件之一。Tim Sweeney認為，這根本遠遠超過串流遊戲可獲的利潤，Google 沒理由不知這是不合理，只是他們仍然有此要求，不過是為了彌補 Google Stadia 業務的失敗而已。
至於事情將如何解決，日後微軟需要自覓渠道來提供 Android 版 Xbox 商店程式，還是最終可在 Google Play 上架，就要繼續拭目以待了。
