早前不少消息指 SONY 會在 6 月 4 日公開 PS5 主機的真身以及公開首發遊戲，但 SONY 至今仍然未有正式的發佈日期。
Venturebeat 的 Jeff Grubb 近月不停更新自己製作的「夏日遊戲發佈密集日程表」，截 5 月 19 日前最新的圖片涵蓋 5 月 19 日至 8 月的主要遊戲發佈以及主要遊戲廠的發佈大會，當中，他提及到 PlayStation 發佈會會在 6 月初舉行。

雖然「6 月初」這個日子也是不能證實的傳聞，但 Jeff Grubb 指 6 月的 PS5 發佈會會是一次「hefty next-gen event」，有很多遊戲在此發佈，雖然仍然很重要，但 Jeff Grubb 指並不是早前傳聞般「重磅」。

5 月初 Xbox 在 Inside Xbox 直播之中，公開 Xbox Series X 多款首發遊戲，令不少玩家關注 SONY（SIE）在組建 PlayStation Studios 之後，會發佈什麼 PS5 首發遊戲，特別是一些獨家遊戲。
除了 PlayStation 發佈會之外，Jeff Grubb 的「夏日遊戲發佈密集日程表」亦包括多個發佈會和遊戲展覽大會日子，包括 Guerrilla Collective、Steam Game Festival – Summer Edition、Xboxing Day、EA Play Live、Ubisoft 原定在 E3 發佈會的內容、Riot 和 Bizzard 的發佈會、State of Play、以及 Gamescom Opening Night Live 等等。
