意大利主帥文仙尼因確診患上新冠肺炎，未能於剛過去的國際賽期未能於場邊親自領軍且錯過了本次國家隊比賽日，並由助教埃瓦尼代他督師。但由埃瓦尼率隊下，意大利於周三歐國聯作客以2:0擊敗波斯尼亞，踢出三戰三勝。更保持廿二場不敗，最終殺入了歐霸盃的四強！
