4 年了，新版 Mac mini 規格終於有重大更新，改用第 8 代 Intel 處理器並大幅提升規格，從一部簡易入門級 Mac 變成可以陣列處理大量影片剪輯、伺服器、雲端運算等等資訊的主機。它的效能提升了很少，最近一項跑分有所證明。

最近在 Geekbench 4 資料庫出現了一項「Macmini 2018late Macmini 8,1」的跑分數據，以「32768MB」DDR4 記憶體的規格相信是 Mac mini(2018)，跑分顯示 Mac mini 2018 採用第 8 代 6 核「Intel Core i7-8700B」處理器時脈 3.2GHz，單核跑分 5512 分，多核跑分 23516 分。

轉載跑分數據的 Venturebeat 網站更以 2013 年 8 核 Mac Pro 比較，這部作為 2013 年旗艦規格「黑色垃圾桶」採用第 3 代 Ivy Bridge Intel Xeon E5-1680 v2 伺服器級別處理器，在 Geekbench 4 單核跑分 3848 分，多核跑分 23199 分。不論是單核和多核，處理器效能已不及 5 年後的 Mac mini。

當然用 2018 年的 Mac mini 的效能比較，對作為 2013 年推出的旗艦級電腦 Mac Pro 不公，但可以作為時代轉變的見證的。
