那些年為 iPhone 6「生產」藍寶石玻璃的代工廠！今天被 SEC 起訴了！

傳聞 iPhone 6 會採用 GT 製造的藍寶石玻璃，但最終沒有採用，GT 後來更玻產收場。美國證券交易委員會 (SEC) 宣佈控告 GT Advanced Technologies（GT）以及前 CEO Thomas Gutierrez 就 GT 有能力生產藍寶石玻璃一事涉嫌誤導投資者，並且被揭發拖欠蘋果公司逾 3 億美元。

SEC 助理主管 Anita B. Bandy 表示，GT 其 CEO 為 GT 的能力和願景描繪了很好的形象，對 GT 生存至關重要，但他們也同時了解到可能對公司造成災難性後果。當他們違反了向投資披露所有真實的義務的時候，SEC 會進行追究。

2013 年尾 GT 與蘋果簽定了合約，蘋果向 GT 付款 5.78 億美元，GT 會向蘋果供應藍寶石玻璃作生產 iPhone，iPhone 6 採用藍寶石玻璃作螢幕玻璃一事引發全城哄動，就連香港的蘋果日報也聲稱找到藍寶石玻璃進行測試，但是 2014 年 4 月，GT 無法達到要求，蘋果一度抽起第 4 期 1.39 億美元不付款。GT 指蘋果的第 4 期款項已於 2014 年 10 月繳付，但不久後，GT 宣佈破產。

後來 GT Advanced 被揭發蘋果最後沒有使用藍寶石玻璃，是因為 GT 生產的藍寶石玻璃內有大量瑕疵和龜裂，良率極低，無法廣泛在 iPhone 使用。
