Google 與遊戲界也許風馬牛不相及，但是從一項手掣專利可見 Google 希望打入串流遊戲市場，挑戰 PlayStation 和 Xbox。

Google 一項在 2018 年 10 月申請、2019 年 1 月公開的專利最近被廣傳，顯示 Google 為遊戲控制器申請專利，在專利文件描述的手掣揉合了 PS 手掣以及 Xbox 手掣的特色，按鍵和 Analog 操控桿與 PS 手掣相似，中間的按鈕卻令人想起 Xbox 的手掣。手掣下方有一個收音咪按鈕，暗示手掣支援語音遙控和通話功能。

為此，有 Twitter 用戶分享了從專利文件衍生出來的 Google 遊戲手掣的概念設計。

Google 會在 3 月 19 日舉行 Game Developers Conference，市場傳聞 Google 會在當日發佈新主機，代號是「Yeti」，並以一個月費形式為用戶提供大量遊戲選擇，被外界戲稱「遊戲界的 Netflix」，但未知道「Yeti」會是大型盒子、如同 PlayStation 和 Xbox 主機的大小、電視盒大小、Chromecast 那麼小，甚至是 Nintendo Switch 那種手提家用二合一的機身模式發佈。
