微軟創辦人 Bill Gates 父親 William Henry Gates II（ Bill Gates Sr.）在 2020 年 9 月 14 日安祥離世，終年 94 歲。

微軟創辦人 Bill Gates 在他的個人部落格悼文既悲傷又感激地公佈父親 William Henry Gates II 的死訊，形容他自己和家人多年以來擁有這位了不起的父親。Bill Gates 亦指他的父親擁有的智慧、慷慨、同情和謙卑能夠影響世人。

William Henry Gates II 曾加入美國陸軍投入二戰戰場，戰後退役成為律師，直至 1998 年退休，2000 年起成為「比爾與美琳達·蓋茨基金會」的聯席主席。在 Bill Gates 的悼文之中，除了提及父親 William Henry Gates II 無條件支持自己伙拍 Paul Allen 創辦微軟更成為微軟的法律顧問之外，亦特別提及父親在「比爾與美琳達·蓋茨基金會」的重要角色：「The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation would not be what it is today without my dad. 」[the_ad_placement id=”ad2″]
