第 6 代 iPod touch 從 2015 年推出之後至今仍未更新，故在 2019 年初，有關第 7 代 iPod touch 的傳聞出來了。雖然 iPod touch 是一個「時不與我」的產品，但有設計師已經為此「發佈」自己的概念設計。

俄羅斯設計師 Anton Kiuriles 就分享了活像 iPhone XS Max 的第 7 代 iPod touch 的概念設計，在他眼中的第 7 代 iPod touch 非常大，甚至比 iPhone XS Max 更大，但解像度較小，7 吋 IPS 螢幕支援 True Tone 和 Night Shift 功能僅有全高清解像度 1080×1920。

不止螢幕，其他規格也是 iPhone XS 的級別，A11 處理器、2GB 記憶體、128GB 或 256GB 儲存空間，更支援 3G 和 LTE 呢。

當然，下一代 iPod touch 是否可以採用如此高級的規格，仍然很有疑問，例如巨大螢幕和 A11 處理器大幅提升成本，令 iPod touch 價格過高，但是這個概念設計，也許可以給蘋果一個製作未來中階 iPhone 的參考了吧。
