在 5 個月星期反覆測試之後，微軟宣佈將重新推出 Windows 10 2018 年 10 月重大更新。

微軟在 10 月中推出 2018 年 10 月重大更新時，有用戶投訴系統內的用戶檔案被移除，結果微軟曾煞停有關更新。微軟在 10 月尾宣佈有關問題獲解決，並將有關更新放到 Windows Insider community 進行測試，在確認問題不再發生之後，有關更新便正式重新推出。

有關 Windows 10 2018 年 10 月重大更新會即日開始向 Windows 10 系統推送，微軟會向企業和教育用戶提供 30 個月的支援。因應 Windows 10 2018 年 10 月重大更新，Windows Server 2019 也會重新推出。

問題出自重新導向路徑漏洞

微軟曾解釋更新後檔案被移除的原因，是來自 Known Folder Redirection 出現漏洞，令檔案重新導向路徑的時候出現問題，最終導致檔案遺失。微軟 Windows Servicing and Delivery 計劃管理主管 John Cable 在微軟部落格指，有關這一波前所未有的決定的錯誤以及計劃以外出現的其他質素問題，已被徹底調查和解決。
