Epic Games 因為擅自在大熱手遊《 Fortnite 》新增第三方內購系統，結果《Fortnite》被 App Store 和 Google Play 下架。Epic 高調控告蘋果，而且推出短片暗串蘋果才是「1984」，而蘋果亦反脅終止開發者資格。
不止如此，Epic Games 希望果粉們轉用其他手機，擺脫蘋果的限制，實行「#FreeFortnite」。於是 Epic 決定在 8 月 23 日在手遊《Fortnite》舉行「Free Fortnite」全球大賽，邀請包括 iOS 版的全球玩家參與。Epic 準備了 1200 件獎品，包括 Alienware 筆電、Galaxy Tab S7 平板、OnePlus 8 手機、PS4 Pro、Xbox One X、Switch 等等……唯獨不送 iPhone、iPad、Mac、Apple TV 等蘋果產品。

不止如此，參與的玩家可以獲得手遊《Fortnite》限定「Apple Man」Tart Tycoon 的服裝，在往後使用。每個地區最高分會贏取一頂「Free Fortnite」鴨嘴帽。

目前 iOS 版《Fortnite》已下架，不能再更新，Epic 建議用戶使用其他平台玩《Fortnite》。
